The 2011 Emmy Awards was held last night, and among the impressive list of Emmy winners was Martin Scorsese, movie director, Oscar winner, and living legend.

Scorsese won his Emmy for directing the pilot episode of Boardwalk Empire, which you can see the trailer for above.

Perhaps Scorsese is going to be luckier winning awards later in life than he was as a younger man. He finally won an Oscar for The Departed in 2006 at the age of 63, having been previously nominated seven times.

Boardwalk Empire is an HBO drama series set in Atlantic City in the 1930s, with prohibition in force and mobs ruling the roost. It’s worth watching for the performance of Steve Buscemi alone.
