Did you know giraffes fought with each other? No, me neither. I’ve always thought of giraffes as quiet, placid animals but this footage proves otherwise.

Shot on a safari in Tanzania, it shows two giraffes going head to head in quite a brutal looking fight. They stand side by side and swing their necks at each other.

I think giraffes have little horns on the top of their heads which would explain the choice of attack they employ but it still amazed me to see this happening in the wild like this.

So not only are giraffes virtual proof of evolution, and one of the most ungainly creatures on earth, they are also pretty damn brutal. I wouldn’t like to meet one down a dark alleyway that’s for sure.
