A five-foot long, 45-pound monitor lizard described as “Godzilla-like” was found walking along the sidewalk in Riverdale, California. And this is one beast I would stay well away from.
The lizard is normally resident in Africa, but it isn’t a species banned as a pet in California. And it’s thought this particular one has been under someone’s care for a long time. Hence its size.
Why would you keep a creature like this as a pet? I haven’t the foggiest. I’ll stick to my cat, thanks. This may be impressive to show off to friends but it’s hardly going to be nice to curl up on the sofa with.
The animal is now being held in a local animal welfare center, and this gives us the wonderful juxtaposition of seeing it wandering around while a tiny chihuahua shivers in the background.
