It’s only the first week of the Australian Idol finals, but Sydney teen Matt Corby has quickly emerged as the man (or boy) to beat.

The teenage girls are crazy for Matt’s surfer bed-hair and piercing blue eyes, but there’s more to this 16-year-old than his looks. This week he proved his musical cred with his stirring cover of Coldplay’s The Scientist.

Matt’s falsetto was effortless, and he brought an intensity to the song that was truly captivating. With those movie star looks, and the skills to back it up, we might as well give the guy the Idol crown right now.
