NASA Rover Curiosity Touches Down On Mars Video | News Coverage Of Successful Landing

This video shows an ABC News report of the NASA rover Curiosity successfully landing on Mars, which it did so after a journey lasting 8 months and one of the most nervy approaches possible.

I do like the way the female anchor claims that Curiosity has traveled “more than 350 miles.” Yeah, it was significantly more than 350 miles, as at the point of landing the rover was 150 million miles from Earth.

The whole report is pretty bad, to be perfectly frank. The NASA technicians are referred to as “Mars geeks” and they’re described as having a “reason to party.” I’m so glad the BBC exists to counter this stuff.

Curiosity will now have a few days to acclimatize before spending months exploring the surface of the planet collecting samples and conducting experiments.
