This video is a literal translation of the movie trailer for Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and it’s all kinds of awesome.

Literal music videos have been around for a while now, and have become something of a phenomenon. But this is the first time I’ve seen the same treatment meted out to a movie trailer.

It works exceedingly well, perhaps because of the film or perhaps because of the voiceover. It isn’t quite as clever as the best literal music videos because they’re changing lyrics. This is really just describing what’s happening on screen.

I’ve already seen Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and can tell you it’s definitely worth watching. If you like the other films and the look of this trailer then you should catch it at a movie theater. I can’t vouch for the 3D though as I opted for traditional 2D.
