Blekko is the latest search engine trying to outdo Google, even though no one really minds Google being so ubiquitous. So, another pointless yet expensive effort.

Google is a magnificent search engine, which is why almost everyone on the Web uses it. There is also Bing, Yahoo, Ask, and a number of other mainstream search engines, all of which do a fine job.

And yet this hasn’t stopped lots of other search startups trying to outdo Google by offering something slightly different. All of which – Cuil, RedZ, Hakia, and Wolfram Alpha – have failed to set the world alight.

Blekko will get some huge initial attention before everyone gets bored and reverts to using Google. I guarantee it. It’s not as though Blekko is crap or anything, it’s just completely unnecessary.
