Originally born in Jamaica but running for the US, Sanya Richards will be making her second Olympic appearance this year competing in the 400m.

She showed strength and determination in her competition in Athens – taking home gold for the 4×400m relay – and plans on only getting better.

Though she had some troubles with illness in 2007, that certainly didn’t hurt her chances and she succeeded at the Olympic trials.

If you recognize Sanya but don’t recall ever seeing her run, you might have seen her with her fiancé, New York Giants cornerback Aaron Ross. Ross proposed in 2007 and the couple plan to get married in 2009.
