Australia has a brand new Idol. Humble soul singer Stan Walker was named the victor in front of a massive crowd outside the Sydney Opera House.

The sweet New Zealand born teen seemed genuinely shocked to beat out Sydney rock chick Hayley Warner. But his consistently amazing performances, unassuming nature, and incredible voice saw him through.

In typical Idol whirlwind fashion, Stan has just released his first single “Black Box.” I can’t say that this middle-of-the-road pop ditty is my favorite song in the world, but it beats the pants off the typical inspirational power ballad we typically hear from these competitions!
