The X Factor is always full of these kinds of moments, auditions with a background story that adds weight to the actual vocal performance.
Ryan Idzi had been serving in Iraq where he was unfortunate enough to see two of his closest friends get killed. So he decides to take some time off and audition for The X Factor instead.
Ryan has actually said since that he’d return to the army even if he wins The X Factor 2007, telling the News Of The World:-
“I’m due to go to Afghanistan in the near future and I still plan to go to fight for my country. Singing has always been my hobby and the army has always been my job.
Of course I want to have a number one single and album but if I can do both then I will.”
I wasn’t actually very impressed with the performance, but there’s no doubt that the guy has something about him which could mean he’ll do well in this years competition.
