Adele,  the “Hello” singer, was spotted at the scene of London’s Grenfell Tower with her husband Simon Konecki. The singer was reportedly hugging fans and strangers while asking if anyone affected in the fire needed help.

The singer kept a low profile while near the lower tower, with only a small number of fans realizing she came out to lend her support.

The emotional pop star was seen crying in several photographs, as she attended a vigil set up for victims in Kensington on Wednesday. She could be seen wiping the tears from her eyes as she hugged fans and victims.

Fans went on Twitter to thank the singer.

Several other celebrities reached out to victims to offer their help following the tragedy, including Ed Sheeran, Emma Freud, Rita Ora and Lily Allen. Jamie Oliver offered victims and those affected free food and drinks at his restaurant, Jamie’s Italian in Shepherd’s Bush.

Theresa May has called for an inquiry into the fire, with reports of 17 people confirmed dead. Estimates suggest that the death toll may rise to as many as 100 people. Search dogs will be used to help scour the wreckage and locate the missing.

Search and rescue teams are working to make the structure safe before carrying out investigations.

The 24-floor tower housed 400 – 600 residents and included 120 homes. The tower was refurbished in 2016. Investigators believe the fire started on the fourth floor of the building. Emergency crews have stated that they don’t expect to find anyone alive in the building.

Hundreds of the building’s residents remain unaccounted for at this time.

Residents who escaped the fire complained that the fire alarms in the building failed to go off. Residents’ groups were concerned over the building’s safety, with the group stating that their warnings fell on deaf ears.

There was only one stairwell available to exit the building, with just a few lifts present.
