Amazing Cello Video | Steven Sharp Nelson Gives Bach a Multi-Instrument Makeover

22 sec read

When Johann Sebastian Bach wrote his Unaccompanied Cello Suite 1 in the 1700s he imagined it performed, well, unaccompanied. But Steven Sharp Nelson has taken a few liberties and accompanied himself!

In this clever piece of viral video trickery, the cello virtuoso performs the piece on eight different cellos. Some play the lead, others take harmonizing roles, and others add a little percussion. The result is a lush wall of classically inspired sound which is frankly better than the original.

They say that you shouldn’t mess with the classics, but when it sounds this good I think it’s perfectly fine to break the rules!
