Two television movies based on Betty Broderick and the story of how she killed her ex-husband and his new wife have recently been repeated on TV. And it’s a tale that is still compelling enough to learn more about.
Broderick was a socialite wife who couldn’t get over the fact her husband had moved on to someone else. So much so that she killed the pair: Daniel T. Broderick III and his second wife Linda Kolkena Broderick.
Broderick faced trial for murder in 1990 only to have a jury unable to fully agree. A 1991 retrial saw her convicted to second-degree murder and sentenced to 32 years in prison.
She has recently applied for and been turned down for parole on the basis that she has yet to move on from the events and has shown no remorse for the terrible act she committed. Which is not a good way to live your life.
