It’s July 4. Which to me as a Brit, and to the vast majority of the rest of the world, means absolutely nothing. But apparently it’s some kind of big deal in the United States of America.
OK, I’ll stop being facetious. I know what July 4 means to Americans. I know how big a deal it is, and how much time and money you guys spend on commemorating this particular day of the year.
However, as a Brit I was never going to party alongside you, so instead of posting a flag-waving, firework-popping celebration video, how about the speech given by Bill Pullman in the classic movie Independence Day?
It is a July 4 speech, and it does commemorate an Independence Day, just one from aliens rather than the British. Happy Independence Day to all Americans everywhere. Traitors, the lot of you!
