This clip is being hailed as “the best performance” of season 9 of American Idol. The reactions from the judges were as follows…
Randy: “Unbelievable, dude, unbelievable.”
Ellen: “That was stunning…just stunning.”
Kara: “You just owned the entire night.”
Simon: “I’m very, very proud of you.”
Having watched a few episodes of this season (I admit, I’m not crazy about the show), I wouldn’t necessarily call it the “best” performance of the year, but it was certainly the best one of the night. Then again, none of the other songs that were performed that night were supported by a choir.
And let’s not forget the other song he did that night. Personally, I didn’t like Lee’s cover of “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd- I thought it was a bit sloppy to be honest. He almost reminds me of David Cook but with less control of his voice.
