Halloween is here… almost. What better way to get into the mood for some scary shenanigans than surely the best Halloween-themed pop song of all time – Monster Mash by Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett?
The song didn’t have a video originally but this one was created for its re-release in 1973. It features a host of classic monsters, ghosts, and ghouls from black & white films. And it sets the tone brilliantly.
There are, obviously, scarier songs out there but none as cheesy as this. And consequently good. What is Halloween if it isn’t a cheesefest? People dressing up in ludicrous costumes and begging for treats – that’s the very essence of cheese.
This song may only be worth listening to once a year on Oct. 31 but it’s still a classic. Make the most of the Monster Mash video now because if you play it in November or December you’ll look very strange indeed.
