This trailer gives us our first look at Michelle Williams’ re-imagining of Marilyn Monroe in the new film My Week with Marilyn.
Film critics were skeptical that Williams has what it takes to portray the screen goddess, but after seeing this trailer I’m optimistic. She seems to bring the right amount of playfulness and pathos to her performance. It’s early days, but perhaps this will get her the Oscar she’s come so close to in recent years.
Williams is ably supported by a virtual who’s who of cinema, including Kenneth Branagh, Dame Judi Dench, Emma Watson, Julia Ormond, and Dougray Scott.
Expect plenty of hype when this one hits American cinema screens on November 4.
