WARNING: This is a shocking video showing the last moments of someone dying in the street, so please only watch it if you aren’t easily offended, shocked, or sickened by such footage.

Here we see a young Iranian Woman named Neda Soltani dying after being shot in the chest by Iranian security forces. Her father comforts her while a crowd gathers, not quite believing what has happened.

The claim, so far unverified, is that Neda was protesting with her father against Iran’s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and the nature of his landslide victory in the recent election when she was shot through the heart by the pro-government Basiji militia.

Ordinary Iranians have been protesting the result of the election since it was declared over a week ago. But the government hasn’t taken kindly to the protests, no matter how peaceful they may be, and have used lethal force to quell the uprising.

Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, and Facebook have been important tools in getting the truth about what is happening in Iran out to the wider world. This video is the perfect example of that, showing someone being killed for protesting.

It’s shocking to watch but the video of this incident could be the key to bringing an end to the current regime in Iran. Neda Soltani has died a martyr for her country, and may she now rest in peace.
