Papa Can You Hear Me? Music Video | Lea Michele Sings Barbra Streisand Classic On Glee

This video shows the scene from the ‘Grilled Cheesus’ episode of Glee when Rachel, played by the stunning Lea Michele sings Papa Can You Hear Me?, a song made famous by Barbra Streisand in 1983 film Yentl.

I love this version of the song, but that may be because it’s very close to the original. In fact, if the TV and theater work ever dries up, Michele could probably earn a living as a Barbra Streisand tribute act.

However, her performance of this song occurs during an episode of Glee which has split opinion. ‘Grilled Cheesus’ was an issue-led episode, with faith and religion being the order of the day.

There’s nothing wrong with that, obviously, but it did make for a slightly less entertaining Glee than usual. At least in my opinion. After all we watch the show for uplifting laughs and brilliant cover versions. Not a debate.
