Anything can pass as art these days. If an artist with some renown declares something as art, it counts as art. As ridiculous as the rest of us thinks it is.
This even applies to a banana duct-taped to a wall. Yes, that’s art. Apparently. And art that’s been bought for $150,000 no less.
However, a performance artist decided that a banana taped to a wall is ripe for eating, so he pulled it off of the wall and ate it. Creating his own work of art.
While the gallery initially freaked out, in the end they just replaced the banana. Which surely makes this supposed work of art even more ridiculous.
