Warner Bros. has announced The Matrix 4 is happening. Yes, a third sequel in the Matrix franchise is on the way. Which is surprising to say the least.
The first Matrix film was released in 1999, and it was a huge hit. Two sequels were released back-to-back in 2003, and they weren’t quite as enjoyable.
Now, 20 years on, Lana Wachowski is set to write and direct The Matrix 4. And both Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are set to return.
Even I, as someone who loved The Matrix Trilogy, cannot understand this decision. The Matrix Revolutions had a definite ending, and diving back into the series now makes no sense.
