The NFL has lost a lot of people’s respect in recent years. Whether over the safety of the players, the Colin Kaepernick situation, or the controversy about logos.

Still, Super Bowl LIII offered an easy way for the NFL to regain some love by having SpongeBob SquarePants perform “Sweet Victory” during the halftime show.

Unfortunately, the NFL messed up this golden opportunity. For reasons known only to the NFL, they teased SpongeBob SquarePants fans without actually showing the song.

This was the perfect year to do this, as SpongeBob SquarePants creator Stephen Hillenburg sadly passed away in November 2018. This video mocks the NFL’s thought process.
