Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting divorced, although it appears this was Holmes’ decision, with Cruise being somewhat surprised by the petition to end the marriage.
Holmes has filed papers in New York, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason the marriage needs to end. She’s also asking for sole custody of their daughter Suri.
There have been rumors for years that this marriage wasn’t working, but up to and including promotion for Rock Of Ages, Cruise has been talking fondly of his wife. Perhaps he’s a better actor than I thought he was.
This is Cruise’s third failed marriage after he also divorced Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman. He also had a long relationship with Penelope Cruz. And now TomKat is no more.
