Watch Whoopi Goldberg’s Holocaust Remarks on Colbert Makes Things Worse? Celeb Video
“On Monday morning, Whoopi Goldberg caused a firestorm due to comments she made on The View regarding the Holocaust and race. Later that day, the EGOT winner dropped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and explained herself.
“Goldberg caused a commotion during a conversation surrounding a Tennessee school district’s decision to ban Maus, a graphic novel by Art Spiegelman that depicts the horrors of the Holocaust.
“The book was reportedly removed from the eighth-grade English–Language Arts curriculum by the McMinn County Board of Education due to “rough, objectionable language” and a drawing depicting female nudity.
“Host Joy Behar claimed that the nudity was “a canard to throw you off from the fact that they don’t like history that makes white people look bad,” while Goldberg expressed some surprise that Maus was removed because of a drawing of nudity rather than its depiction of the Holocaust itself.”
