This video is outrageous. As the host mentions, this type of behavior has only been witnessed a few times in history, and now we are lucky enough to watch it on video.

In the video, a group of orcas is shown working together to teach their children a technique in trapping a seal. The seal has escaped from the killer whales onto a chunk of ice in the water.

The orcas work as a team and swim under the ice, creating a wave that will hopefully wash the seal off of the ice and back into the water. Their technique works! After the whales chase the seal in the water, they return it to the chunk of ice.

It seems as though they didn’t want to eat the seal—they just wanted to take the opportunity to teach their kids how to hunt. Nature is absolutely amazing!
