Mythbusters is one of my favorite TV shows. It’s great to see some of the many myths we’re exposed to in life either proven or torn to pieces. But leave it to Robot Chicken to compare the Mythbusters to the Ghostbusters.

NBC LogoI recently posted about some of the networks releasing many of their première pilots as free downloads. This is on top of the many rumours about networks leaking premières on to torrent sites to create a buzz.

Now, to add to that, NBC is now offering free downloads of their popular shows via a new service they call NBC Direct.  Shows such as The Office, 30 Rock, and Heroes will be available to download to your desktop using the NBC Direct software.

The initial beta launch will provide users with a free subscription option allowing the viewer to pre-select their NBC shows and then those shows will auto-download to their computer once available (after the broadcast).

NBC Pilot ScreenshotYou may have already read that Amazon Unbox are offering a few of the new NBC pilot, first episodes available for free.

Well, the day has arrived, and those Fall Premières are available to download now. So if you can’t wait to see until the shows air on television, check out some of these.

Free Amazon Unbox Pilot Episodes

You can obtain the following shows for free from Amazon Unbox by clicking on the links below:-

  • Life - An NBC Drama about a former police officer who returns to the force after having been wrongly imprisoned for years.
  • Bionic Woman - An NBC Sci-Fi Action Drama remake of the 1970s series.  A woman is transformed from a barista to part-robotic babe.
  • Chuck - An NBC Comedy where a Geek Squad-like guy named Chuck has all government top-level secrets downloaded into his brain so he becomes a governmental operative.  Sounds cheesy but I’ve heard good reviews.
  • Journeyman - An NBC Fantasy Drama where a man travels back in time to help people in trouble.

Library Book ShelfYour local library may now be riding the internet video download train by offering various video titles on its website for download.

Libraries have previously acted as small-scale free video rental outlets and now various libraries across the U.S. are beginning to offer the same titles as movie download sites, although the focus is generally on the special interest and indie film variety.

It would be worthwhile checking your local libraries website to see what video downloads they have available. Libraries all over the U.S are doing this including the libraries in the entire state of Wyoming.

The PirateBayThe PirateBay, a popular torrent website that allows you to find pirate video to download using Torrent Software, has announced it will be starting a new video streaming website with “PirateBay mentality”.

While many are speculating that it is going to take the form of a YouTube style site that will be packed with illegal videos I don’t think that will be the case.
